Terms & Conditions Vierdaagsebed 2026

These terms and conditions are intended to provide clarity about the Vierdaagsebed concept, so that both walkers and host families know what to expect.

If the accommodation does not meet the requirements

If a sleeping place does not meet the agreed conditions, you must notify us as soon as possible, and no later than 24 hours after arrival, so that Vierdaagsebed can work with you to find an appropriate solution.

Complaints submitted after the stay (up to two weeks after the Four Days Marches) will be processed and recorded as feedback.

By registering as a walker or host family at Vierdaagsebed.nl, you agree that you do not know in advance where you will stay or who you will host. Everyone is welcome — we do not exclude anyone.

If you have a special support request, this must be communicated in advance.

The Four Days Marches 2026 will take place from 21 to 24 July 2026.
If you are unable or not equipped to host guests with special support needs, you must inform us.

Accommodation & Care – What can you expect / What are the requirements?

Guests must be provided with:

• A proper bed in a private or shared room
  (Not allowed: sofa beds, mattresses on the floor, or children’s beds)
• A double bed for two persons must measure at least 160×200 cm

The accommodation is available between:

• Arrival days: Sunday 19 July / Monday 20 July 2026
• Departure days: Friday 24 July through Sunday 26 July 2026

A stay through Vierdaagsebed is always a minimum of 4 nights.

The host family supports an athlete delivering a top performance. This means the host family is expected to do everything possible to properly care for the walker and include them in the household.

At the same time, walkers are expected to respect the house rules and customs of the host family.

Failure to comply with house rules or these terms may result in termination of services.

How do you create a satisfied walker?

Four words: “Pamper them.”

How?

Get to know each other in advance and discuss expectations. Contact the walker assigned to your address beforehand by phone or email.

Do they prefer peace and quiet or conversation?
What do they like to eat?

In practical terms:

• Serve breakfast or set it up neatly
• Set the table properly with a variety of cold cuts, cheese, sweet spreads, and fresh bread rolls
• Prepare a nutritious warm meal (for full board)
• Offer a drink and celebrate the completed walking day together

If you want to stay at the same address with acquaintances, submit one joint registration.

If, as a host family, you would like to host the same walker as last year and this is mutual, we will do our best to accommodate this request. Please mention this in the comments section of your registration.

Price – What does participation cost?

Walkers pay €15.50 administration costs.
For host families, €3 per accommodated walker is deducted as an administration fee.

From the €58.95 per person per night (lodging + breakfast), the host receives €47.95 per person per night.

From the €78.95 per person per night (full board), the host receives €65.50 per person per night.

The total amount including administration costs must be paid immediately or within 14 days after registration. Registration is only final once full payment has been received.

Payment to host families will be made within two weeks after the Four Days Marches, exclusively by bank transfer.

Changes & Cancellations

Changes and cancellations must be submitted by email only.

No cancellation costs apply if no match has yet been assigned.

If a host family makes changes, €10 per change will be deducted from the compensation. Minor errors reported within 24 hours after registration will be handled leniently.

If more than 5 beds are offered, no change fees will be deducted.

If bed availability or room arrangements change, the host family must inform us immediately.

Guarantee compensation for last-minute cancellations

After 1 July, a host family with a confirmed match is entitled to compensation for 2 nights per person if no replacement walker can be found.

If a walker drops out during the event, 50% of the remaining nights will be compensated to the host family.

Host Family Requirements

A host family rents out only a bed/room in their own home and must be present during the Four Days Marches.

The house must be:

• Comfortable, clean, and fresh
• Non-smoking
• The bedroom must have a window for ventilation and storage space
• Clean sanitary facilities (at least one shower and toilet in a private space)
• Daily cleaning of sanitary areas
• Clean towels provided daily

Food & drink requirements:

Lodging + breakfast:
Coffee, tea, milk, fresh bread, cheese, cold cuts, sweet spreads, fruit.

Full board:
Breakfast as above, packed lunch (bread, fruit, snack, drink), nutritious warm dinner with variety, drinks included.

Always coordinate dietary preferences in advance.

Additional Important Information

You must register again each year.

Vierdaagsebed only places guests participating in the Four Days Marches.

Once registered, host families must keep beds reserved exclusively for Vierdaagsebed guests.

Matching occurs in phases and is largely automated. Special cases may be matched manually.

Match details (address and contact information) will be communicated as soon as possible. The latest date is 1 July.

Vierdaagsebed does not guarantee that all registered beds will be filled.

Double beds may be rented to single walkers only with explicit consent.

Vierdaagsebed is not liable for:

• Damage caused by guests
• Damage caused by hosts
• Noise disturbances in central Nijmegen
• Costs arising from forced address changes

Special support requests will be considered but cannot be guaranteed.

Personal data is used only for service purposes and deleted after 18 months. See the privacy policy for more information.

Failure to comply with these terms may result in removal from participation without compensation.
